How do I start a healthy diet?

Ok, I would like to start a healthy diet so I feel better about myself. I am not fat, I am 8 stone and 5ft 5in. I eat crap food all the time and I thought it’s about time that changed. I have no idea where to start and what a healthy balanced diet is. Can you give me a few examples of meals/food I should be eating? Thank you.

don’t think of it as a diet, but as a lifestyle change. Just be conscious about what you are eating.

I read this awsome book, carol vordermans chaging life book plan and it is amazing. you get to know about awsome new foods like quinoa and other exciting unusual types of foods. I lost 2 stone in 3 mnths and was amazed. It felt like I was having fun eating what I wanted to eat and I felt amazing! You must try it, or any other vegan book, ok it is a vegan thing but you dont hav 2 be vegan 2 do it, i am meat eater but it gave me so much energy and I am concidering turning vegan now!

well, you probably know that you should stop eating crap food, right ?

if you have no idea what a balanced diet is….fruits, vegetables, chicken, wheat bread, oatmeal, yogurt, fish….you should probably consult a dietician in your area

Well instead of having 3 big meals, try having 5-6 smaller meals and snacks. Every 2-3 hours. Eat breakfast within the first 30 minutes of waking up, I prefer whole grain cereal, just make sure it has plenty of carbs, especially if you are active. Then have your first snack, again something with carbs and whole grains, like a protein bar. Lunch should be fiberous, get your fruits and veggies in. Next snack, could be something like a fruit. Dinner, have plenty of protein, and again don’t forget your veggies. Do you have to follow that exactly? Of course not, what ever works for you, but that’s just an example. Hope you find something =)

get active in sports,dance and martial arts..get a dog and take it for 20 minute walks once or twice a day..consume NO junkfoods,fastfoods,alcohol & carbonated drinks..you will grow out of it..
