healthy diet
Vernon _ asked:

I would like to gain some weight through a healthy diet. But, I don’t know how to do it. My current diet is that oatmeal for the breakfast, 50% whole wheat bread for the lunch, and brown rice for the dinner.
I am physicaly fit and doing physical exercises in a regular base. My job requests me siting in the front of a computer for long hours and usig my brain a lot. I would like to get healthier by gaining some weight.

Keep eating the oatmeal, but add some fruit and yogurt with breakfast, I hope you don’t just eat bread for lunch, eat protein with it. Add a fruit smoothie. And brown rice for dinner? Again, I hope that isn’t all you eat. This diet is basically all carbohydrate and no protein. You need to eat a salad, brown rice, chicken, fish or steak and a vegetable. If you really want to add the extra calories, add Avocado’s and other healthy choices that have natural fat.

I would reccomend adding more protein to your diet, and healthy fats. If you are focused on gaining muscle, protein is what I would recommend.

Here’s some thoughts: Consult your doctor, Cheese, Bacon, Seeds, Nuts, Eggs, Pork, Beef, Tuna, Beans, Breads–particularly whole grain, Lamb, and other foods high in protein and/or fat. You should eat a balanced diet, so include fruits and vegetables (lots of vegetables). And exercise! Weight bearing exercises, weight lifting, etc. are best, because you want to put on muscle. It’s hard work, but you can accomplish a lot if you stick with it. Working out will make you hungry, so work hard and stick with it, and eat enough to control the hunger; you’ll gain the weight. You don’t have to become a fanatic, just exercise hard, and regularly. Of course the harder you work (like a fanatic ;-) ), the happier you’ll be with the results.

Proteins are required for building muscles, so having high protein foods like eggs, milk, peanut butter, protein shakes will help you in gaining weight. Starchy foods contain a lot of carbohydrates. You can find more information at
